What situations should prompt an escalation call?

How do I initiate the process ?
The expectation is that when the case involves another service, that ED attending first attempt to resolve the situation with the other attending of service. This communication will be important to share context with the on call leader, if a resolution is not achieved. In the event other members of the physician leadership structure may need to be engaged, page the ACMO on call via the operator.
What if the issue is not clinical?
The administrator on call (AOC) is available for administrative support of the same scenarios listed above and may also address facilities concerns, de-escalate disruptive patients/family members, etc. This leader can also be contacted via the operator.
